Mamolefe Petlane is a professional Journalist, the Executive Director of Sesotho Media and Development (SM&D) in Lesotho. An organization recognized for its innovative approaches to advocacy and empowerment using documentary film to disseminate information. Under her guidance, SM&D has championed initiatives aimed at addressing the structural and systemic barriers faced by marginalized groups. Amplifying the voices of key populations in Lesotho through documentary films and media engagement, especially on issues like gender-based violence and Human rights. Partnering with key organizations to promote sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) and strengthen the capacity of female-led movements and youth organizations in Lesotho. In March 2021, she was nominated by the U.S. Embassy in Maseru to participate in the prestigious Meridian-coordinated International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) virtually. This honor positioned her among the few female leaders in Lesotho’s civil society recognized for their efforts in advancing socio-economic and cultural rights for women and girls and other groups.
